GoodPlayer FAQ
for iPhone & iPad
Your original purchase rights stay in place, and access is normally recognized automatically. Find answers about updates, access status, restoration and duplicate subscriptions, plus playback and file help.
This page covers GoodPlayer for iPhone and iPad (iOS/iPadOS). GoodPlayer does not currently have an Android version and will not release one in the future.
Step-by-step guides
Start with free playback, existing purchases and restoration in 12.15. See the 12.15 release notes for all changes, or 12.14 for Media Library and the audio mini player.
GoodPlayer for iOS: developer, playback and transfers
Has GoodPlayer changed developers? Why does the App Store developer information look different?
No. GoodPlayer for iOS is still developed and maintained by its original developer.
The developer information shown on the App Store has been standardized to comply with Apple’s current App Store requirements. This change to the listed information does not indicate a change of developer.
Why do some AVI, MKV or MP4 files play while others have missing video or sound?
AVI, MKV and MP4 are containers. The video and audio inside them can use different codecs. A matching file extension does not guarantee matching playback requirements; file integrity, encoding settings and the selected audio track also matter.
The current iOS version improves support for DivX, AC-3, E-AC-3 and DTS. MLP, TrueHD (including Atmos carried in TrueHD) and AC-4 remain unsupported. For missing sound, try another supported audio track in the file and see current audio support.
Check the video codec, audio codec, resolution and bitrate. MediaInfo on a computer can show these details. Renaming a file extension does not convert its codecs.
What should I check if HD video stutters, drops frames or makes the device warm?
- Update GoodPlayer, then compare playback with a complete local copy of the same file to separate network issues from file issues.
- Check Settings → Audio/Video Setting → Hardware Decoding. It is on by default, but an earlier choice to turn it off is preserved during updates. Keeping it on is normally recommended.
- If only network playback stutters, check Wi-Fi signal, server read speed and competing transfers. A successful download does not mean the connection can consistently keep up with real-time playback.
- If local playback also stutters, check the video codec, resolution, frame rate and bitrate. Compare with a lower-bitrate or lower-resolution copy.
Smooth playback depends on the file, device and playback method. A resolution label such as 720p, 1080p or 4K, or a file extension, cannot guarantee performance. For playback failures or missing sound or video, see format compatibility.
How do I change playback speed, and why is the option missing in some playback screens?
In GoodPlayer video playback screens that provide this control, open Information (i) → Playback Speed. Adjust in 0.1× steps from 0.3× to 4.0×; 1.0× is normal speed. You can also assign Increase Playback Speed or Decrease Playback Speed in Gestures settings.
Controls differ between playback screens. The system playback screen used for some MP4, MOV and M4V files, and the Media Library audio mini player, do not provide this same speed menu. The control also does not guarantee equivalent speed adjustment for live streams or remote casting.
Can audio keep playing after I lock the screen or switch to another app?
Yes. Enable Background Audio in Settings → Audio/Video Setting. This allows audio to continue in the background. With it turned off, entering the background stops or pauses playback.
The Media Library audio mini player supports queues and system playback controls, including controls on the Lock Screen. Network audio still needs a working connection, and playback remains subject to your current playback access.
If playback stops when you lock the screen, check Background Audio, the network connection and playback access. Do not force quit the app while it is playing.
How do I switch audio languages or subtitles, or turn subtitles off?
In playback screens that support GoodPlayer gestures, the defaults are a one-finger horizontal swipe to change audio tracks and a vertical swipe to change subtitle tracks. The file must contain the tracks you want; gestures cannot add a missing language.
If swiping does not switch tracks, check Settings → Gestures to confirm gestures are enabled and assigned to those actions. System playback screens use their own available audio and subtitle controls.
To disable subtitles, select Subtitle Off in Settings → Subtitle Setting → Subtitle Index. Subtitles burned into the video image cannot be removed by disabling a subtitle track. For external files, matching and encoding, see the subtitle guide.
How do I correct subtitles or audio that are out of sync with the picture?
Open Information (i) during playback and use Subtitle Delay to adjust subtitle timing. Playback screens that provide Audio Delay can adjust sound separately. Each step is 100 milliseconds; make small adjustments while watching.
By default, delay adjustments apply to the current playback. To retain a delay for later files, enable the corresponding Audio Delay or Subtitle Delay switch in Settings → Audio/Video Setting, then adjust the value. Start at zero delay when troubleshooting a different file.
A fixed delay can correct a constant offset. If the mismatch grows over time, check that the subtitle matches the video edition and that the media’s timing is correct. For garbled, missing or invisible subtitles, follow the subtitle display guide.
Does the iOS version support Chromecast? Why can a file play on my phone but not on the TV?
GoodPlayer for iOS supports Chromecast. Connect your iPhone or iPad and the receiver to the same Wi-Fi network, allow GoodPlayer Local Network access, then select a device from the player’s Cast control. See Google Cast connection help.
The receiver must be able to reach the media address and support the file’s container, video codec and audio codec. Successful playback on the phone does not guarantee playback on the TV. See Google Cast’s supported media for receiver compatibility.
Download Google Drive files locally before attempting to cast them. If both the phone and TV play sound, turn off Settings → Audio/Video Setting → Sync local when Chromecast, then start casting again.
Why does AirPlay send sound without showing the video on my TV?
Selecting an audio output can send sound to a TV or speaker while the picture stays on your iPhone or iPad. To display the screen, use Screen Mirroring in iOS/iPadOS Control Center and select a compatible TV, Apple TV or Mac on the same Wi-Fi network.
For GoodPlayer’s external video output, check Settings → Audio/Video Setting → TV-Out and choose Turn on always when needed. Direct video streaming and screen mirroring compatibility depend on the playback method and receiver.
Can I import videos from a computer over USB? Do I still need iTunes?
Yes. GoodPlayer for iOS supports Apple File Sharing. Connect your iPhone or iPad to the computer with USB, unlock the device and complete any connection prompts.
- Mac: Open Finder, select your device, open the Files tab and drag videos or subtitles to GoodPlayer. See Apple’s Finder file-sharing guide.
- Windows: Select your device in Apple Devices, open Files, select GoodPlayer and add files. See Apple’s Windows file-sharing guide.
After the transfer, check GoodPlayer’s File Browser. Automatic inclusion in the Media Library runs while the app is in the foreground. USB is also an option for large files; for wireless transfers, see the Wi-Fi guide.
Updates and purchase access for existing paid users
Thank you for your continued support of GoodPlayer. We understand that seeing new purchase or subscription options may raise questions about whether your original purchase is still valid.
Please be assured: making GoodPlayer free to download with optional in-app purchases is intended to let new users try the app before deciding whether to pay. It does not change existing paid users’ purchase rights. Your existing access is normally recognized and updated automatically; Restore Purchases is only needed if recognition does not work as expected.
Why is GoodPlayer now free to download, with in-app purchases and subscriptions?
We want new users to be able to try GoodPlayer for free before deciding whether to purchase access.
This change does not require customers who previously purchased GoodPlayer to pay again for their existing access. The new purchase options do not replace or remove the rights associated with an eligible original purchase.
I already purchased GoodPlayer. Do I need to pay again after updating?
No. Users who purchased the original paid version retain lifetime access to all existing playback features, without a daily playback time limit. Users who redeemed the original paid app using a promotional code are also covered.
This lifetime access does not require monthly renewal. You do not need to start a subscription or a subscription trial to keep or restore your existing access.
Do I need to apply for lifetime access or manually restore my purchase after updating?
Usually, no.
After you update and open GoodPlayer, the app normally recognizes your original App Store purchase and updates your access automatically. Most existing paid users do not need to take any additional action or provide an old receipt.
Restore Purchases is a troubleshooting option if automatic recognition fails, rather than a required step after every update.
How can I check whether my existing access has been recognized?
Open:
GoodPlayer → Settings → Playback Access
If the page shows “Lifetime — Original GoodPlayer Customer,” your original paid-app entitlement has been recognized.
Once this status appears, you do not need to make another purchase, start a subscription, or repeatedly restore your purchases.
I can see subscription information, purchase options, or a free playback allowance. Does this mean my original access has expired?
Those messages alone do not establish that your original access has been lost. Please check your access status on the Playback Access screen first.
If your lifetime access is active, the free playback allowance does not limit your use of existing playback features. If your lifetime access is missing, or you actually encounter an unexpected playback time limit, please follow the troubleshooting steps below.
You do not need to make a payment to resolve a purchase recognition issue.
What should I do if my original purchase is not recognized automatically? Will restoring it charge me?
Only if your access has not been recognized, please try these steps:
- Check that the Apple Account used for App Store purchases is the same account you originally used to obtain GoodPlayer.
- Make sure your device is connected to the internet.
- Open GoodPlayer → Settings → Playback Access and tap Restore Purchases.
- Allow the check to finish, then review your access status.
Restore Purchases checks your existing purchase records. It does not create a new purchase or charge you again. You normally do not need to uninstall or reinstall the app to restore access.
If your access is still not recognized, please contact us for assistance before making another purchase.
I cannot remember whether I paid for GoodPlayer, and I no longer have the receipt. How can I check?
First, check your access status in GoodPlayer. If your lifetime access has already been recognized, you normally do not need to find an old receipt.
If you would like to check the original transaction:
- Open the App Store and tap your profile picture or account button.
- Go to Apps & Purchase History → Purchase History. Some system versions show Purchase History directly.
- Find GoodPlayer and change the date filter from “Last 90 Days” to an earlier period.
- Review the transaction and amount. If you originally used another Apple Account, check that account’s purchase history.
For detailed instructions, see Apple’s purchase history guide.
Not having the original receipt email does not, by itself, mean you have lost your existing access. Please contact us if you are unable to confirm it.
Will I keep my access when I change my iPhone or iPad? What if I use a different Apple Account?
Changing devices does not, by itself, invalidate your original purchase. On a compatible iPhone or iPad, use the Apple Account associated with your original GoodPlayer acquisition for App Store purchases and downloads.
Your access should normally be recognized automatically. If it is not, try Restore Purchases. A different Apple Account may not contain the original purchase record. Apple also recommends using the original purchasing account when restoring purchases; see Apple’s purchase restoration guidance.
Restoring purchases restores app access. Transferring or backing up your media files is a separate process.
What if I have already started a subscription or paid again?
Please first check whether your original lifetime access has been recognized. You are also welcome to contact us for help reviewing the situation.
If you separately started a subscription, restoring your original lifetime access does not automatically cancel that subscription. You can manage renewal in your device’s Settings → your name → Subscriptions, then select GoodPlayer. Canceling a separately purchased subscription does not remove your verified lifetime access from the original paid app. See Apple’s subscription cancellation instructions.
If you believe you made an unnecessary duplicate purchase, you can follow Apple’s refund request instructions. Refund eligibility and approval are determined by Apple.
How can I get help if restoring purchases does not resolve the issue?
Please contact GoodPlayer support (service@hustmobile.com) and, where possible, include:
- A screenshot of the Playback Access screen, or the status it displays;
- Any error message you see;
- Your GoodPlayer version, device model, and system version;
- The troubleshooting steps you have already tried.
Please hide any personal information in screenshots. You do not need to provide your Apple Account password, verification codes, or full payment details.
We understand how important your original purchase is, and we appreciate your patience. Please contact us before paying again so we can help check your access and investigate the issue.
How does the daily 30-minute free allowance work?
GoodPlayer is free to download. Each device gets 30 minutes of free playback per day in the GoodPlayer player. Local and network media share this allowance. Only actual playback counts; pausing and buffering do not. You can view the remaining time for the day, and unused time does not carry over.
Media playing within web pages in the built-in browser is free without a time limit and does not use this allowance. When the allowance runs out, playback in the GoodPlayer player pauses, while downloads and file management remain available. Wait for the next day’s allowance, or choose monthly or lifetime access for unlimited playback.
Active trials, subscriptions and lifetime access do not use the daily free allowance.
What is the difference between monthly and lifetime access?
Both remove the time limit from existing playback features. Monthly access lasts while the subscription is active and renews automatically unless renewal is canceled. Lifetime access is a one-time purchase.
View available plans and the price before purchase in Settings → Playback Access. If you buy lifetime access while subscribed, cancel the monthly subscription’s renewal; buying lifetime access does not cancel it automatically.
How does the 7-day free trial work?
Users eligible for Apple’s introductory offer can start a 7-day free trial of monthly access. Check the purchase page for your eligibility and the monthly price. After the trial, the subscription renews automatically at that price unless renewal is canceled through Manage Subscription.
An active trial does not use your daily free allowance. GoodPlayer 12.15 improves recognition of trial offers and refreshes eligibility information after purchases and trial expiration.
How do I cancel renewal, including after buying lifetime access?
Open Settings → Playback Access → Manage Subscription to cancel renewal. A 7-day trial converts to the displayed monthly price and a monthly subscription continues renewing automatically unless renewal is canceled.
Buying lifetime access does not automatically cancel an existing monthly subscription. After buying lifetime access, use Manage Subscription to cancel the monthly subscription’s renewal.
Where can I find Premium and my playback access status?
Open Premium on the Media Library or File Browser home screen, or open Playback Access at the top of Settings. Lifetime users see their Lifetime Access status.
Purchase options appear at the top of Playback Access, alongside access information, Restore Purchases and Manage Subscription. You can view plans before playing media or using up the free allowance.
How do I use Media Library or switch back to File Browser?
In Settings → Interface Style, choose Media Library or File Browser. New installations start in Media Library; existing users keep their interface choice.
The library home shows Continue Playing, Recently Added and Favorites. Browse videos, songs, albums, artists, playlists and channels; search, sort, or switch between list and grid views. Videos can also be manually organized as Movies or TV Shows.
Tap a local or network media card to play, or touch and hold for details and more actions. Videos use filenames as titles by default; a setting lets you use embedded titles instead. Artwork, video previews and media details appear when available.
How does automatic local media discovery work?
Automatically Include Local Media is enabled by default. While GoodPlayer is in the foreground, it checks local folders and subfolders for existing media, downloads, uploads and file sharing imports. Identified media appears in batches without waiting for the whole folder.
You can turn automatic inclusion off in Media Library Settings. Existing folder exclusions and scan choices are preserved. Ordinary non-media files, hidden files and macOS resource forks are filtered out.
If a new file or an older download is missing, keep the app in the foreground and check the inclusion setting, excluded folders and scan scope. Version 12.14 fixes cases where those files did not appear automatically.
Can I add server or cloud folders to Media Library?
Choose folders from authorized SMB, WebDAV, FTP, SFTP, NFS, AFP, UPnP/DLNA, Google Drive, Box, Dropbox or OneDrive sources, and choose whether to include subfolders.
Media appears as it is identified. Version 12.14 improves network MOV, MKV and other media detection, including valid MKV files previously missing because detection could not finish.
Adding a folder does not grant new access permissions. For Google Drive, use Add Files to authorize the files you need; selecting a folder does not authorize all its contents. See Google Drive authorization help.
Can I keep listening while browsing and control the playback queue?
Close the full audio playback screen to keep listening with the mini player while browsing your library or files. The full screen shows track, artist and album information, available artwork and embedded lyrics, plus system volume controls.
The complete playback queue supports sequential playback, shuffle, repeat one and repeat all. Repeated entries in a playlist remain separate.
M3U, M3U8, PLS and HLS handling has improved so HLS quality variants and media segments are not shown as separate programs.
What happens to protected files, history and hidden library items?
Version 12.14 strengthens access checks for protected media in the library, search and playback queues. Revoking access stops affected playback and clears its system playback information. If a protected track is selected in the background, return to GoodPlayer to unlock it.
Resume history better follows moved or renamed files, and clearing playback history prevents old records from reappearing.
You can hide or restore library items, clear image caches and rebuild the media index while keeping original files. Rebuilding also preserves favorites, playlists and playback history. Hiding a library item does not delete the original file; see permanent deletion and freeing storage if that is your goal.
Are subtitle characters appearing as boxes fixed? Which formats and languages were tested?
Yes. GoodPlayer 12.13 includes the fix for missing characters shown as boxes in multilingual ASS subtitles. Some characters could previously turn into boxes as several languages appeared in sequence. Update GoodPlayer and play the original subtitle again; this issue does not require replacing its text line by line.
Tested subtitle formats: ASS (Arial style, without attached fonts) and external UTF-8 SRT. Each format was checked with 32 language or writing-system variants, with no missing-character boxes observed.
Samples in both formats displayed the following languages and writing variants successfully:
- Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean
- French, German, Vietnamese, Turkish
- Russian, Ukrainian, Greek, Georgian
- Arabic, Persian, Urdu, Hebrew
- Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi (Gurmukhi script)
- Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam
- Thai, Lao, Khmer, Burmese
- Sinhala, Tibetan, Amharic, Armenian
Device playback was checked on October 19, 2026 using an iPhone 12 Pro Max (iOS 27.0.1) and GoodPlayer 12.10. That fix is included in 12.13. Font fallback tests also passed on the iOS 18.0 simulator. These results cover the 32 samples; rare characters, unusual font attachments and every complex text-layout rule have not all been tested.
If a problem remains after updating, distinguish garbled text from missing-character boxes. If the preview is already unreadable, check the subtitle encoding. If the preview is readable but playback has missing characters, try the default subtitle font and note the format, language and affected text. See the subtitle encoding and display guide.
What should I know before upgrading to 12.15?
Version 12.15 is free to download, with 30 minutes of daily player playback per device for new users and optional monthly or lifetime access. Existing paid users and users who redeemed a promo code for the original paid app keep lifetime access with no new payment. Access is normally recognized automatically. If access is missing after updating, follow the restore purchases steps.
GoodPlayer requires iOS 18 / iPadOS 18 or later, with improved support for iOS 27 / iPadOS 27. Existing local files, folders, server settings and local passwords continue to be used, with compatibility for older preferences and playback positions. Shared and private folders remain accessible.
Some cloud services and websites require sign-in again. If an existing local password does not unlock your files after upgrading, keep the app and its data and use Password Recovery Help. Resetting ordinary settings does not clear local passwords.
In 12.14, new installations start in Media Library and existing users keep their interface choice. Switch in Settings → Interface Style. Automatically Include Local Media is enabled by default, checks files only while the app is in the foreground, and can be disabled in Media Library Settings. See Media Library help and automatic discovery.
Which audio formats are currently supported?
Playback support has improved for AC-3, E-AC-3, DTS and DivX. The current player does not support MLP, TrueHD (including Atmos carried in TrueHD) or AC-4. Choose another supported audio track, or use a copy converted to AAC, AC-3 or another supported format.
Older release notes about removed audio support describe those earlier versions. Hardware decoding is now enabled by default; a previous choice to turn it off is preserved.
Why must I select my Google Drive files again?
Google Drive now accesses only files you select through Add Files. Authorization is required again after upgrading. Selecting a folder does not grant access to all its contents.
If an existing playlist reports missing access, select the original files again using the same account. Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive and Box sign-in and access have also been updated.
Step-by-step guide: Authorize Google Drive files in GoodPlayer.
Why does my older SMB server no longer connect?
SMB connections now use SMB 2 / SMB 3. Servers that only offer SMB 1 need a newer protocol enabled, or another connection method supported by the device, such as FTP or WebDAV.
Sign-in, folder browsing, downloads, seeking and error messages have been improved. FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, NFS, AFP and UPnP / DLNA access have also received fixes.
Step-by-step guide: Connect GoodPlayer to an SMB server or NAS.
Which downloads can continue in the background or resume?
System-managed background downloads are available for independent file links that require no sign-in and can be requested again. Pause and Resume are available when supported by the server and system. Downloads tied to a website session stop when the app enters the background. Force quitting the app also cancels background downloads.
You can choose a file name and destination, then follow transfer, verification and saving progress in Downloads. Removing a download record keeps the saved file. If saving is interrupted because a folder needs unlocking, you can continue saving the downloaded content once access is restored.
Existing download records and unfinished files are retained. Older tasks without usable source or resume information require you to choose the source again.
What do private tabs and clearing website data do?
The built-in browser supports multiple normal or private tabs, Find in Page, and desktop or mobile website mode. You can end a browsing session or clear website data.
Private browsing does not save browsing history. Files you explicitly save remain in the selected folder; clearing website data does not delete them.
How can I import files or upload a folder over Wi-Fi?
Import files from Files or other apps while keeping originals and existing files with the same name. Wi-Fi Transfer supports selecting multiple files at once. Compatible desktop browsers can also upload folders while preserving their structure, except for empty folders.
Downloads, uploads, copies and ZIP / RAR extraction preserve existing files with the same name. Document previews, text subtitle previews with encoding selection, sharing and Open In have also been improved.
Step-by-step guide: Transfer files to GoodPlayer over Wi-Fi.
How can I restore removed files or permanently delete them to free up storage?
You can restore local files and folders moved to Recently Removed. Moving items there alone does not free up storage. The cumulative updates through 12.13 fix permanent deletion.
- Open Recently Removed in File Manager.
- Tap Edit and select the items to delete.
- Choose Permanently Delete to free up storage.
Newly removed files appear directly in Recently Removed, without an extra enclosing folder. Duplicate names receive suffixes such as -1 and -2. Removed folders retain their structure, and previously removed items remain accessible.
How do I change the GoodPlayer interface language?
Use the in-app language setting to choose a language or Follow System, then restart GoodPlayer to apply the change.
How do resume, screen fitting and downloaded subtitles work?
Choose to resume automatically, start from the beginning, or be asked when a saved position is available. Playback positions distinguish files with the same name in different folders.
Updates through 12.13 fix seeking in some network MKV and TS videos where the picture could remain near an earlier position. They also improve network TS duration display, pause and resume, and rapid Play/Pause switching.
Video fits within the unobstructed screen area by default. With gestures enabled, spread two fingers to fill the screen with proportional cropping, or pinch inward to show the full picture.
After downloading a subtitle, choose a media file to play with it. This applies only to the current playback, without changing the original subtitle or creating a permanent association.
The inactive Retina Display, Color Space, iPod and iPod Fullscreen settings have been removed. Hardware decoding and the player’s full-screen control remain available.
Multilingual ASS subtitles have fixes for missing characters shown as boxes. Subtitle placement around playback controls is improved, including while paused or resizing the window, with a fix for a crash when loading external subtitles.
Step-by-step guide: Use external subtitles in GoodPlayer.
Numbered help retains its original links. Related playback, casting and transfer answers have been updated. Other historical entries may describe earlier app, iOS or service versions; use the current guidance above first.
01How do I add media and subtitle files?
Use USB File Sharing, Wi-Fi upload, or import from Files or another app. Import the video and its external subtitles, then follow the subtitle guide to select or match them.
02How to delete media files and subtitle files in GoodPlayer?
GoodPlayer 12.13: See restoring files, permanent deletion and freeing up storage. The instructions below are historical.
There are 2 methods to delete files in GoodPlayer.
2.1 The 1st method, in the GoodPlayer application video files list ,swipe left
and right for the file needed to be deleted, then a delete button will
come out, click the button ,the video file will be deleted. The point
is swiping your finger left and right over the listed file.
2.2 The 2nd way, use iTunes by iTunes file sharing, you can check all the
video files on GoodPlayer, select the file to be deleted, press the
"Delete" key on your pc,then confirm the file deletion.
03How to check uploading progress ?
Chrome browser is suggested for uploading, since Chrome has the uploading progress indicator in the lower left corner.
04What should I do if a Wi-Fi upload is interrupted or the app closes?
Reopen Wi-Fi transfer in GoodPlayer, keep the app in the foreground and connect the computer and device to the same local network. Use the complete address currently shown by the app, check the destination folder and available storage, then retry incomplete files.
For large files, USB File Sharing is another option. See Wi-Fi transfer troubleshooting.
05Why is an uploaded file missing from the Media Library?
Check the destination in File Browser first and confirm the transfer finished. Use Settings → Interface Style to switch between Media Library and File Browser.
The library lists included media. A file appearing in File Browser does not mean indexing is complete. Keep GoodPlayer in the foreground and check Automatically Include Local Media; see local media discovery.
06GoodPlayer doesn't seem to resume from last location on any clips?
GoodPlayer 12.13: See resume and playback controls. The instructions below are historical.
Need to touch the "Done" button to remember the resume location.
07I bought GoodPlayer, but it could not be installed to my iOS device?
GoodPlayer 12.13: See iOS 18 / iPadOS 18 requirements. The instructions below are historical.
This application needs Cortex-A8 or Cortex-A9 CPU for installation and running. For the special iPod Touch 3 8GB model, please double check the CPU requirements.
08Why could not upload file to Inbox folder?
Inbox folder is a special system folder, So please do not upload file to Inbox folder, and do not create sub-directory in "Inbox" folder
09How to delete folder?
GoodPlayer 12.13: See restoring files, permanent deletion and freeing up storage. The instructions below are historical.
Just same as delete file, ,swipe left/right on the folder to get the "Delete" button, or delete it from iTunes file sharing
10Why could not open web page directly?
GoodPlayer 12.13: See the built-in browser and website access. The instructions below are historical.
Now for URL input, the GoodPlayer needs http://192.168.1.10/test.avi like specific streaming media URL, does not open web page in GoodPlayer.
11Does "Open in" feature support other applications other than Safari and Mail?
Yes. But it is up to other applications to support this feature also. This feature needs both sides support it.
12I bought GoodPlayer, but finds it is not the app what I need, what to do?
If the GoodPlayer could not meet your requirements, you could request the refund. Please contact Apple as soon as possible, since the refund is a limited time only option provided by Apple. Sorry for the inconvenience.
13How can I play files that are located on a Mac on my local network, without running a steaming server, and without having to copy the file locally first?
It can be done by the HTTP or FTP streaming.
The Mac comes with built-in HTTP and FTP file sharing, so you need no
other streaming server installation. Mac -->System Preferences
-->Sharing---> Web Sharing is for HTTP.
Mac -->System Preferences
-->Sharing---> File Sharing --->Options is for FTP.
After sharing the files from Mac by HTTP/FTP:
1. Input the URL in the GoodPlayer, it can playback. URL example:
http://192.168.1.10/test.avi
ftp://username:password@192.168.1.10/test.avi
2. Write a web page with goodplayer:// url scheme, such as
goodplayer://http://192.168.1.10/test.avi
goodplayer://ftp://username:password@192.168.1.10/test.avi
Then open the web page from iOS devices, click the goodplayer:// link ,the files will be played back. Please note the FTP comes with password/username.
14Why GoodPlayer does not support TV-out/VGA-out on my iOS device?
Since the API limitation, this TV-out feature is for iPad & iPhone 4 & iPod Touch 4 only, please note iPod plugin playing in application does not support TV-out, only native application playing support TV-out, and also please note that iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3 do not support TV/VGA-out feature .
15After creating new folder, how can I upload files to it?
Since the iTunes files sharing does not support folder, so the only
way is uploading files to created folder by Wi-Fi.
1. Create folder.
2. Click Wi-Fi in app
3. Use browser from PC/MAC to upload files to the new folder
Note:Chrome is the suggested browser, it is the most stable in the
testing and it comes with uploading progress indicator.
16How to use GoodPlayer to enjoy the live TV program?
If you can get a live TV URL, just input it to enjoy it on GoodPlayer.
If the live TV is not available on the Internet, you can build your own live stream. For example, use VLC software to steam out the TV to UDP or RTP streaming, then enjoy it on GoodPlayer by the following URL:
udp://@192.168.1.182
rtp://192.168.1.182
Or created a web page with goodplayer:// URL
goodplayer://udp://@192.168.1.182
goodplayer://rtp://192.168.1.182
Please note the "@" in the UDP steaming URL.
17How can I access help document from GoodPlayer application?
GoodPlayer ---->Setting---->Upper right button---->Online Help
Note: need Internet connection to access the online help.
18How do I troubleshoot files that fail to play or play poorly?
Start with containers and codecs, then compare local and network playback using the performance checklist.
For initial troubleshooting, provide GoodPlayer and system versions, device model, media codecs and the error message.
19How to move files from folder to folder in GoodPlayer application?
19.1 Click the lower left corner file manager icon, enter the new file manager
19.2 Click the lower left corner "new folder" icon, create some new folders
19.3 Click "Edit" button
19.4 Use the circle left to the files, select one or more file(s) to be moved
19.5 Click "Cut" icon on the lower bar
19.6 Go to the destination folder
19.7 Click "Paste" icon on the lower bar, the files will be moved to the new folder
19.8 Go back to the Documents folder , then click "GoodPlayer" button to go back to media file list mode and enjoy the files
20How to check the GoodPlayer version number?
GoodPlayer ---> Settings ---> Click top right corner button --->Email Feedback , the GoodPlayer version number is in the Email title
21How to use srt/idx/sub subtitle support in GoodPlayer?
GoodPlayer 12.13: See using downloaded subtitles with a media file. The instructions below are historical.
During HTTP/SMB streaming, the app will automatically check the app's root folder(the default folder for "iTunes File Sharing" and Wi-Fi sharing file uploading) and the app's Download folder(the default folder for GoodPlayer downloader) for subtitle files.
So please first upload/download the subtitle files to the above 2 folders. If the movie name is filename.avi , the subtitle file name is something like "filename.en.srt" or "filename.fr.srt". If there are more than one subtitle tracks, swipe fingers up/down on playing, to change the subtitle or turn off subtitle on the fly.You can change other subtitle setting in GoodPlayer--->Settings--->Subtitle Setting, you can set subtitle encoding, font size, etc...
1. Just upload the srt/idx/sub subtitle files with the same name but different file extensions to the iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch (for local files playback, please upload the subtitle files to the same directory with media files; for network streaming, please upload subtitle file to root folder or Download folder)
2. If the movie name is filename.avi , the subtitle file name is something like "filename.en.srt" or "filename.fr.srt" (or "filename.en.smi","filename.fr.smi"), then play back the avi file , the subtitle will show up
3. idx/sub subtitle files is special ,the filename should be "filename.idx" and "filename.sub"
4 . After the subtitle is okay, you can change other subtitle setting in GoodPlayer --->Settings--->Subtitle Setting, you can set encoding, font size, etc...
Manually subtitle selection supported, click the playback control information button, then click "Select Subtitle". This feature is useful when the automatic subtitle match does not work. For example
some UPnP servers will change the filename strings in the URL, so the automatic subtitle match would not work.

setting here-->"Charset"--> Check "Force UTF-8" here-->"Connect"
28Why does iTunes Sync file backup blocker not work?
For the first time the iTunes Sync is turned off, the
most safe testing way is to exit the desktop iTunes , and restart the

32Why does an ISO file have video but no sound?
Check the actual audio codec and try another audio track. See current iOS audio support; the ISO extension alone does not establish audio compatibility.
33Why does the "Lock Landscape" setting not work in GoodPlayer?
Turn on "Lock Landscape" first, then play a video , rotate the iPhone
so the video change to landscape(note that your iPhone/iPad must not
be locked on orientation) , now the video is locked on landscape.
There is only "Lock Landscape", no portrait orientation lock.
Please make sure you do not use iOS system orientation lock. If iOS
system orientation lock is used, GoodPlayer could not rotate the
video. Check the upper right corner of your iPhone/iPad for a lock
icon.

Check the current system requirements, inspect the media codecs and compare with a local copy. One file failing does not establish that every file with that extension is unsupported.
42On iOS 5, how to use the "Open in" feature?
There are some changes in iOS 5. In iOS 5, you need to "long press" the attachment to get the "Open in" menu.
Here an alternative way we found to open mail attachment. The attachment sometimes never gets an "Open in" menu in iPad 2 with iOS 5.
1. Send the file as attachment to Gmail mail box
2. Use the GoodPlayer built-in browser to access the Gmail
(https://mail.google.com/) , then download the attachment , play it at last.
43Sometimes the downloaded/uploaded files disappeared?
For GoodPlayer 4.0 and iOS 5.0.1+, now the files will remain on device, even in low storage situations. Upgrade to iOS 5.0.1+ is recommended.
Please change Settings->File Manager-> iTunes Sync to "on".
For iTunes/iCloud Sync, we have already given an option to the end users in
the GoodPlayer settings. GoodPlayer->Settings->File Manager->iTunes
Sync, the default is "off" from 3.2 version, when this setting is
"on", the media files uploaded to GoodPlayer will sync with iTunes.
When this setting is "off", the media files in the GoodPlayer will not
sync with iTunes. For the iOS 5, when the setting is "on", the
media files in GoodPlayer will sync with iCloud, when the setting is
"off", the media files in GoodPlayer will not sync with iCloud.
From GoodPlayer 2.3, the option was added to disable iTunes Sync file
backup, this can save a lot of time and disk space when the iOS device
sync with the iTunes.
Please Note: for the first time the iTunes Sync is turned off, the
most safe testing way is to exit the desktop iTunes , and restart the
desktop iTunes , then sync the iOS device with iTunes. It was found
sometimes the iTunes Sync setting does not work immediately, maybe it
has something to do with the cache.
44How to check the subtitle encoding? And how to change the subtitle encoding to UTF-8?

Please note the DVD .iso title and chapter support is only for local
.iso files, not for .iso streaming playback. For DVD .iso streaming
playback, please still use swiping left/right or up/down to change
audio tracks and subtitle tracks
49Which audio tracks should I check when playback has no sound?
Current iOS support differs from early versions; see current audio support. Check volume and the selected output device, then try a supported audio track. Old notices about removing AC-3 or DTS do not require finding an old app version.
50How to set the NFS server so the GoodPlayer NFS client can access it?
Please note that NFS server side must allow regular (non-root) users to connect to your NFS shared folders!!!
So far, we only tested NFS client with OS X NFS server.
NFS server setting for OS X: edit the "/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.nfsd.plist" file. Open it and add the option "-N" to the startup parameters as follows:
<array>
<string>/sbin/nfsd</string>
<string>-N</string>
</array>
Or please check this website: https://kodi.wiki/?title=NFS
51What if an SMB file downloads but does not stream correctly?
Confirm the server supports SMB 2 or SMB 3, then compare playback of a fully downloaded local copy. If the local copy also fails, check the file’s codecs. If only streaming fails, check share access and network throughput.
Follow the current SMB and NAS guide. Download success with playback failure does not, by itself, identify the workgroup name as the cause.
